Sepsis Risk Assessment Tools
Sepsis Calc
Sepsis Calc is a tool for clinicians to estimate the risk of early onset sepsis in newborns based on maternal and infant clinical factors. The calculator uses a combination of maternal risk factors and clinical signs and symptoms to generate a score that can help clinicians decide whether to initiate antibiotic therapy.
How to use the qSOFA Calculator
The qSOFA calculator is a tool for clinicians to identify patients who are at risk for or are currently experiencing sepsis. The calculator uses three clinical signs and symptoms to generate a score that can help clinicians decide whether to initiate sepsis management.
The three signs and symptoms used in the qSOFA calculator are:
- Respiratory rate ≥22 breaths per minute
- Altered mental status
- Systolic blood pressure ≤100 mmHg
A score of 2 or more on the qSOFA calculator indicates a high risk of sepsis and should prompt clinicians to initiate sepsis management.
