Apple and Île-de-France Mobilités Expand Transit Pass Support
Convenient, Contactless Fare Payment for Paris Transit Riders
In a significant move towards contactless fare payment, Apple and Île-de-France Mobilités (IDF Mobilités) have announced that commuters can now add the Navigo transit card to Apple Wallet. This integration allows riders to simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to pay for travel on the Paris Metro, buses, and RER trains.
Previously, riders relied on physical Navigo cards or had to top up their passes via the Île-de-France Mobilités iOS app. However, with this new feature, riders can purchase and manage their Navigo passes directly from Apple Wallet, eliminating the need for a separate physical card.
This expansion of transit pass support on Apple devices is expected to enhance the convenience and accessibility of public transportation in Paris. Riders can now enjoy a seamless and contactless payment experience, reducing the need for cash or physical cards.
